Sorry to throw a spanner in the works relating to the dates, but most accommodation for this event for visiting teams will be based on camping and/or self-catering. These bookings run Saturday to Saturday, usually arriving Saturday afternoon and departing by 1000 the following Saturday morning. Running the event Monday to late Saturday evening will be problematic for anyone camping or self-catering, who will be tuffed out of their accommodation Saturday morning and will have no where to stay Saturday night/Sunday morning of the closing Prizegiving/Ceilidh. As its early days, could I suggest moving the dates by one day to the 7th-12th? Not only would that allow folk to arrive on a Saturday to begin the fun on Sunday but it would also allow folk to party on Friday the 12th and still have a bed to crawl into, and to depart with sore heads Saturday morning.
Hi Mac,
We wanted to have the last day on the Saturday to maximise the number of people who can attend/row/spectate, and still have the Sunday to pack up and get home. For people who are not on holiday it might make the difference between attending and not attending.
The campers don’t have the problem of being thrown out, and for those who do we have booked the Royal Hotel for the Saturday night. If you want to make a reservation for then, contact the Royal and say you are a rower.
Cheers, Topher Dawson.
Many thanks, we’ve booked into The Royal. See you on the beach, Mac
